Chunghwa Telecom, Intel Team up for Smart TV

Taiwan's
major telecom operator Chunghwa Telecom and US Intel plan to form alliance for
smart TV business and build long term partnership, according to an October 20,
2010 report by the Commercial Times of Taiwan. Intel CEO Paul Otellini is set
to meet Chunghwa Telecom CEO Shyue-Ching Lu on October 28, 2010, and it is
reported that the two companies could sign an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding)
after the meeting. It is expected that cloud computing and smart TV
developments, including service models and solutions, will be discussed during the
meeting. If the cooperation between the two companies is successful, Chunghwa
Telecom is projected to become Intel's first telecom partner, according to the
same source.
